Chapter 514

Seeing Martin hurry off, Zara quickly called after him.

“Martin, once the video’s out, can I go back to work at the Zamora Group?” she asked.

“Well, for now…” Martin shot her down without a second thought. “Just stay home and take it easy for now. When everything blows over, we’ll talk about you coming back to work.”

Zara looked at Martin, her eyes filled with urgency.

“But what about the projects I was responsible for, and…” she began.

“You don’t need to worry about any of that. Did you forget? I’ve got the most professional team in the business,” Martin said, smiling.

Seeing that smile, Zara felt her cheeks burn with humiliation.

Martin’s words reminded her. She’d hardly ever been involved in any of the Zamora Group’s projects.

Most of the time, the project teams sent the data directly to Martin, bypassing Zara entirely.

Even as the project lead, she’d always get the data later than Martin.

Seeing Zara sitting there in a daze, Martin curved his lips into a faint smile and asked, “Do you have anything else you want to ask?”

“Do you have anything else you want to ask?” Martin repeated.

Zara shook her head.

“No,” she replied.

Martin nodded, his smile growing as he saw her so calm and quiet.

“That’s what I like to see. Good girl. I can afford to keep you, you know,” he said.

“Even if you never set foot in the Zamora Group again and just stay home, I can still support you.”

Zara stayed silent.

After Martin left, the social media team shoved a script at Zara, telling her to read it out for the video,

Zara glanced at the script, her eyes going cold.

“You already had this ready? So why did you even bother asking for my opinion?” she said.

The team member flashed her a sheepish grin.

“This is what Mr. Zamora wanted. We’re just doing what he told us. If you’ve got any issues, feel free to talk to him yourself,”

he said.

Zara was shut down by the team’s reply and had nothing left to say. Fuming, she snatched the script and just stuck to it as

she recorded the video.

After the video was done, the staff member turned to Zara.

“Ms. Blanchard, it’s best if you don’t log into your social media accounts for now. We’ll take care of your accounts,” one of them said.

Zara nodded.

She knew that once the video dropped, she’d get flamed online. Better to just stay away from it.

Zars and Martin were locked together now. There was no way to break free. Even if she wanted to back out, it was way too late for that.

Once Zara agreed, the team packed up and left.

That night, the team uploaded the video Zara had recorded.

Daron bore the brunt of the fallout.

Zara’s fans even swarmed Daron’s official website, crashing it completely.

Marina started getting hate messages in her DMs, too.

And naturally, Zara didn’t escape the backlash, either.

Some fans who used to ship her with Daron turned on her and started flaming her online.

Even some bystanders started calling her an idiot.

At this point, the only one who hadn’t gotten caught up in all the drama was Martin.

Martin scrolled through his phone, grinning as his feed blew up with compliments.

Meanwhile, Daron’s official channels were getting absolutely roasted online, and Martin was loving every second of it.

The only thing that bummed him out was that Daron didn’t have any public social media accounts or blogs. Otherwise, the irama would’ve been even juicier.

f Daron actually had a public account, his DMs would be blowing up for sure.

Martin kept refreshing the comments under Daron’s official account, hoping for some kind of clapback, but it was just radio

silence.

So he just turned off his phone.

Right then, Matthew’s call came in. He was absolutely fuming.

‘Why are you out here publicly picking a fight with Daron?” Matthew barked.

“Do you even realize how much bad PR you’ve brought on the company?” Matthew snapped.

“If Daron decides to fight back, do you have any idea what kind of mess you’ll be in? You’ve only been in charge for a month or two. Are you really trying to get yourself ousted already?”

Martin, getting chewed out by Matthew, quickly shot back.

“Grandpa, I didn’t even handle this myself. Zara met up with Garret, and she had the Zamora Group’s core data on her. The

proof is ironclad. No matter how they try to spin it, that’s the truth,” Martin said.

“Besides, Zara’s willing to testify that Daron’s the one who told her to steal the company’s data. This has nothing to do with me. I can keep my hands clean,” he added.

Matthew’s expression turned icy, his tone dropping as he spoke.

“If Zara double-crosses you and bites back, let’s see how you clean up that mess,” he warned.

Martin chuckled. “Grandpa, do you really think anyone would believe Zara now?

“She’s got no proof, and I made sure she never had any to begin with.”

Matthew gave a cold snort, his voice icy as he spoke. “You’d better watch your back. If you get knocked off your perch, Edmund’s side will be ready to swoop in and take your spot.”

Martin scoffed, a hint of contempt in his laugh.

“Edmund’s daughters? Please. They’re both women, and they’ve never bothered with the company’s business. No way they’d ever get a shot at running things,” he said.

“Grandpa, do you really think Edmund is that naive?” he added.

“I’m in this seat because I’ve actually got some real skills. What could Edmund’s two daughters possibly bring to the table?” Martin scoffed.

Matthew immediately rebuked Martin, his voice icy.

‘Martin, you’ve been sitting in that chair so long, you’ve forgotten how you even got there,” Matthew said coldly.

‘If Daron hadn’t come back and decided to build his own company instead of fighting you for the spot, and if your grandfather hadn’t put pressure on Edmund, do you really think you’d still be sitting there?”

‘Don’t be stupid,” Matthew snapped.

Martin’s expression turned stormy after Matthew’s scolding,

He gritted his teeth and growled, “Grandpa, you know what pisses me off about you the most?

“You were the one who wanted to break free from the old man’s grip, but now that we’re finally in charge, you still can’t shake that deep-seated sense of inferiority! You just can’t ever stand up to him for real.”

With that, Martin hung up on him.

Matthew sucked in a sharp breath, so pissed off by Martin’s words he almost choked.

Even though Martin was his only grandson, Matthew knew better than to pin all his hopes on him.

If Martin ended up causing a disaster he couldn’t fix, Matthew would have to figure out how to keep his whole side of the family safe.

Ever since this mess blew up, Daron hadn’t made a single move to strike back.

That was way too suspicious. Matthew couldn’t afford to let his guard down.

Matthew quickly called his son, telling him to keep tabs on Martin, then hurried back to the Zamora family estate. He was

hoping that, after all these years, the bond between him and his brothers would be enough to help his side of the family hold their place in the Zamora Group.

No matter what, Matthew had to play both sides. He couldn’t afford to lose out on either front.

If Martin’s plan worked out, that’d be great.

But if it tanked, Matthew had to make sure his branch held on to their spot and way of life. No way was he letting the main house or Edmund’s crew kick them out for good.
