Chapter 635 Nothing Has Changed
Elnora’s boldness left Albert utterly stunned. He looked down at her, his heart racing as he took in her flushed cheeks.
His absent-mindedness made Elnora frown ever so slightly.
She released him and looked up at him.
“Could you tell?” Elnora asked.
“Yeah, I could,” Albert replied, his voice so hoarse it barely sounded like him.
Seeing that he still wasn’t making a move, Elnora frowned slightly, parting her lips and speaking in a low, husky voice.
“Don’t tell me you’re not into me, Mr. Campbell?” she teased.
‘Seriously? After all I’ve done, and he’s still keeping his cool?’ Elnora thought.
Albert shook his head right away.
“No, that’s not it,” he replied.
His throat was so dry he could barely get the words out.
After a long pause, he finally spoke. “You’re drunk.”
He couldn’t take advantage of her like this.
Elnora frowned at him, her expression unreadable. After a moment of silence, she replied in a flat tone, Forget it. Goodnight.”
With that, she didn’t spare Albert another glance. She got out of bed and headed straight for the bathroom. Albert watched Elnora walk away, dazed. Suddenly, he realized that if he left her room tonight, he’d probably never have any chance to get closer to her again.
He moved fast, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her hard into his arms.
“Ms. Finley, you lit the fire tonight. So don’t blame me for what happens next,” Albert said.
Elnora looked up at him from his embrace and answered, “I won’t.”
Albert’s mind was in chaos. He leaned in and kissed Elnora hard, claiming her lips.
After that, everything spiraled out of control.
But right at the critical moment, Albert felt a sudden resistance. He glanced down at Elnora lying in his arms, surprise flickering in his eyes.
“You…” Albert started.
But Elnora just tilted her head up and pressed her lips to his, shutting him up.
Albert felt his skin tingle, a rush running through him.
That night, they kept each other up late, only falling asleep when they were completely worn out.
The next morning, Elnora woke up still resting on Albert’s arm.
Albert glanced down at her, a lazy smile playing at his lips, his voice still hoarse.
“You’re awake?” he asked.
Elnora nodded and reached up to rub her brow, but Albert was quicker, gently massaging her forehead for her.
“You drank a lot last night. There’s a good chance you’ll have a headache today,” Albert said. “Just stay home and rest today. We’ll head to the office tomorrow.”
Elnora nodded. “Okay.”

The cold, distant aura she usually had faded away, replaced by a gentle, almost obedient vibe.
Albert couldn’t help himself. His heart itched with longing as he pulled her even tighter into his arms.
“Does it still hurt?” Albert asked, his voice rough and low.
Elnora shook her head. “No.”
Albert swallowed, then kissed her cheek.
Elnora didn’t pull away. She just lay there, staring up at the chandelier, seeming distracted.
Seeing her like that, Albert tightened his arms around her, holding her even closer.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked softly.
Elnora shook her head, yawned sleepily, then rolled onto her side and buried her face in Albert’s chest. She wrapped her arms around him and murmured softly.
“Let me sleep a bit more. Don’t bug me,” Elnora murmured.
Albert nodded, playing along. “Okay.”
He stayed right there, holding her, just waiting for Elnora to wake up.
When Elnora woke up, her mind cleared and she let go of Albert.
But as she pulled her hand away, Albert quickly reached out and grabbed her wrist.
Elnora looked up at him and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Albert pressed his lips together. For some reason, the moment Elnora pulled away, he felt a sudden, inexplicable panic inside.
After a few seconds of silence, he glanced down at Elnora and spoke softly. “It’s nothing. I just… want you to
kiss me.”
Like last night, that was the only time he felt safe.
Elnora listened, but didn’t move.
Albert let out a soft sigh and said, “If you’re not gonna kiss me, then I guess I’ll just have to kiss you.”
He gave her a soft kiss on the cheek.
Elnora shot him a deep look, looked like she wanted to say something, but in the end, she just stayed quiet and walked toward the bathroom.
She had barely stepped into the bathroom when Albert followed her in almost immediately.
“Let me run the water for you,” he offered.
He really couldn’t have come up with a better reason to stay close.
Elnora didn’t stop him. She just watched him quietly.
Albert filled the tub, checked the water temperature, and then gestured for Elnora to get in.
Once she was in the tub, Albert got behind her and started washing her hair.
He did it all without a single complaint, acting like a super devoted husband.
After he finished with her hair, Albert squeezed himself into the tub with her.
Elnora, who had been lying there with her eyes closed, opened them and looked down at Albert sitting at the other end, gently scrubbing her feet.
She watched quietly, something unreadable flickering in her eyes.
She lowered her gaze, stayed silent for a while, then gently tugged at Albert’s arm.
Albert turned his head to look at her and asked, “What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?”
Elnora shook her head and simply beckoned him over.
She looked like she wanted to say something, so Albert leaned in.

Instead, Elnora pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek, then rose from the water.
Albert touched the spot where she’d kissed him, and he couldn’t help but smile.
After Elnora left the bathroom, she headed to the closet to get dressed.
By the time Albert finished tidying up and came out, Elnora was already suited up.
He immediately asked, “Heading to the office today?”
Elnora checked her watch and nodded.
“I’m starting at Campbell Group today,” Elnora said.
Albert looked up, a bit surprised. “Campbell Group? So you’re not going to Supernova anymore?”
Elnora nodded and said, “Your mom just wanted me to get a feel for Supernova at first.
“Now that I’ve gotten to know most of the business at both Supernova and Campbell Group, she wants me at Campbell Group now.”
Albert was left speechless.
He hadn’t heard a single thing about this.
‘Mom really keeps everything from me, Albert thought.
“Let me take you to Campbell Group,” Albert offered.
He headed straight for the closet to get changed.
Before Elnora could even say no, Albert was already heading to the guest room.
When Albert came out in his suit, Elnora was nowhere to be seen upstairs.
He headed downstairs, but all he found was a glass of milk she’d already drunk from sitting on the dining
table.
Just then, he heard a car pulling away outside.
Albert rushed out, only to see Elnora already in the back of the driver’s car, heading off.
He frowned, a wave of disappointment crashing over him.
Just last night, he and Elnora had shared the kind of intimacy only married couples do.
But this morning, Elnora was back to her usual distant self.
He’d thought that after last night, things between them would change.
And yet, everything was still the same.
A deep sense of defeat settled in Albert’s chest.
