Chapter 642 He Was Easy to Read

Early the next morning, when Elnora opened her eyes, Albert’s presence was nowhere to be found.

She glanced to her side, a hint of sadness flashed across her face, then picked up her phone from the nightstand.

Elara had sent her quite a few messages late last night.

Most of them were tips about what happens between a man and a woman in bed, plus some dos and don’ts. There was also advice on staying safe.

Elnora glanced at the messages and could easily guess that after finishing work last night, Elara must have stayed up late researching and compiling everything for her.

Elara said: [Ms. Finley, here’s all the details I put together. Did you find the answers to your questions in these?

Elnora read Elara’s message, and a wry smile tugged at her lips.

She opened the chat and started typing. [No.]

What Elnora really wanted were ways to get pregnant fast and how to make absolutely sure it would work.

Elara was up early, checked her phone, and saw Elnora’s message right away.

She reviewed the information she’d sent Elnora yesterday.

Having a pretty good idea now, she sent over the extra info she’d prepared.

If the last batch wasn’t what Elnora was looking for, then this one had to be it.

Soon enough, a detailed file about which positions make it easier to get pregnant-and all the prerequisites- popped up on Elnora’s phone.

Elara asked: [What about these?]

When Elnora saw Elara’s message, a trace of exasperation flashed in her eyes.

She replied right away. [Did you even sleep last night?]

When Elara saw Elnora’s reply, she knew exactly what was going on.

After so many years by Elnora’s side, her instincts were spot on.

Yep, just as she thought.

Elara said: [I’m the all-nighter champ.]

When Elara sent the message, she added a flexing emoji for good measure.

Elnora let out a helpless sigh.

She said: [Don’t lose sleep over stuff like this. If you keep pulling all-nighters, your body’s gonna give out.]

Elara sent back an “OK” emoji.

Elnora skimmed through the info Elara sent, and one line caught her eye.

If the guy’s swimmers were in top form and it lined up with the woman’s fertile window, there was a good chance she would get pregnant on the first try.

But if his swimmers weren’t up to par, it might take several attempts, or it might not happen at all. So, prepping ahead and keeping those little guys healthy was key.

When Elnora read that, a hint of frustration flickered in her eyes.

She and Albert had gone at it plenty of times last week.

And last night, they’d gone at it plenty of times too.

If she still didn’t get pregnant this time, that’d mean Albert’s swimmers just weren’t cutting it.

Elnora frowned, a hint of concern showing in her eyes.

She set her phone down, got up, and headed for the bathroom.

As she reached the bathroom door, she heard Albert’s voice coming from outside her bedroom.

“Don’t ever call me again,” Albert said. “I won’t let the Taylor family off the hook.”

When Elnora heard that, her gaze grew distant.

She stepped into the bathroom.

On the sink, her toothbrush was already loaded with toothpaste.

Her toothbrush cup already had water in it.

It was clear Albert had taken care of these little things for her.

Elnora picked up her toothbrush and started brushing.

After hanging up, Albert walked back into the bedroom. He glanced at the empty bed, then headed toward the bathroom.

Seeing Elnora brushing her teeth, he walked over and wrapped his arms around her from behind.

His gaze was warm and full of affection as he looked at her reflection in the mirror, his voice gentle as he asked, “Want me to drive you to the office later?”

Elnora didn’t answer right away. She just kept brushing her teeth.

Albert just waited patiently, not rushing her at all.

After she finished brushing, Elnora set down her cup and toothbrush, then finally spoke, her tone even, “The driver’s taking me to the office, so you don’t have to bother.”

Albert knew she’d turn her down, so he already had a backup plan ready.

He grinned. “I’m swinging by Campbell Group anyway, so it’s no trouble. I’ve made up my mind. I’ll start working at Campbell Group in a bit.

“Reese’s been worn out for years. Once we both get up to speed, she can finally kick back and enjoy her retirement.”

Elnora didn’t say anything back to Albert.

Albert kept his arm around her waist, not letting go.

“Campbell Group’s got so much going on, and you’ve been crazy busy lately. Honestly, it pains me to see you like this,” he said.

‘I don’t see any sign he actually cares, Elnora thought to herself.

They’d run into each other at Campbell Group last week, and he hadn’t even bothered to say a word to her.

Elnora focused on washing her face and going through her skincare routine.

Albert kept his arms around her, occasionally handing her different bottles and jars as she needed them.

Elnora just let him be, treating him like a giant pendant draped over her.

Once she finished her skincare, Elnora walked over to the vanity.

Albert immediately followed after her.

He kept his hand on Elnora’s waist the entire time.

When Elnora sat down at the vanity, she lifted Albert’s hand away from her waist and said quietly, “I need to do my makeup now.”

Albert nodded but didn’t leave; he just waited quietly nearby.

Elnora glanced at him in the mirror and spoke softly, “Aren’t you going to change?”

Albert wasn’t budging.

“I’ll wait till you’re done with your makeup, then we’ll change together,” he said.

“Not with you,” Elnora muttered.

She shot him down without hesitation.

Albert raised an eyebrow, leaned in and murmured in her ear, “If you don’t want to get dressed with me, then who do you want to get dressed with?”

Elnora frowned slightly.

Seeing the annoyance flicker in her eyes, Albert backed off and just chuckled softly.

“Alright, I’ll go change first. Want me to pick out your outfit for today while I’m at it?” he asked.

Elnora nodded.

Having someone hovering while she did her makeup made Elnora feel a bit uncomfortable.

Albert left the makeup area.

Elnora could finally breathe easy.

Her skin was flawless. Even without makeup, she was stunning.

Elnora just put on a light touch of makeup to brighten up her complexion.

When she walked out of the dressing room, Albert was already suited up, stepping out of the closet.

He spotted her and immediately came over with a big smile.

“I’ve got your suit ready for today,” he said.

Elnora nodded softly. “Alright, thanks.”

Albert started to move closer, but Elnora headed straight for the walk-in closet, turned around, and closed the door in his face.

Albert was left outside, a wry smile tugging at his lips.

He didn’t leave; instead, he waited patiently by the door.

Inside, Elnora glanced at the suit Albert had set aside just for her on the rack, arching an eyebrow.

If she was seeing things right, the suit he’d picked out for her matched his tie perfectly.

‘Honestly, he’s not subtle at all; Elnora thought, amused.
