Chapter 648 Is It Right or Wrong?
“A misunderstanding?” Elnora’s gaze swept over Stella’s pale face, her expression cold.
“This misunderstanding probably came from you, Ms. Taylor,” Elnora said.
Stella froze for a moment, her face drained of color. She bit her lip, looking utterly innocent.
Elnora looked away from her and got into the car.
The chauffeur closed the door behind her.
Stella stood there, watching Elnora’s car as it pulled away.
She turned to look at Wendelin, whose face was just as grim. After all those impulsive actions earlier, now
that things had settled down, the fear was creeping in for Wendelin.
Her job had only just started to stabilize, especially with everything going on right now.
‘If I get detained, there’s no way the company would keep me around,’ thought Wendelin.
“Stella…” Wendelin called out, her face pale as she looked at Stella.
Stella bit down on her lip, then said, “Don’t worry, Wendelin. I’ll handle this.”
Regret flickered in Wendelin’s eyes.
Soon, the authorities came and took Wendelin away.
Campbell Group’s lawyer went with Wendelin to the police station.
Elnora had already made it clear. No settling. No compromise.
Wendelin was definitely going to have to serve those fifteen days.
The only hope now was if Stella could somehow get Albert to pull some strings and get Wendelin out. Elara was about to leave her desk when a flood of chat messages suddenly popped up.
[Elara, Ms. Taylor and Ms. Finley are fighting downstairs.]
[Elara, is Ms. Finley alright?]
Elara’s face darkened as she read the messages. Without a second thought, she rushed to the elevator, barely pausing before heading downstairs.
By the time she got downstairs, Elnora’s car was already gone, and the cleaning lady had wiped away the coffee stain at the entrance of Campbell Group.
As she stepped outside, the cleaning lady was still working.
Stella was leaving Campbell Group in her hospital gown, walking slowly.
Elara watched her from behind, her face growing grim. She hurried after Stella.
“Ms. Taylor,” Elara said.
Upon hearing Elara, Stella stopped in her tracks and turned to face Elara.
“Elara,” she replied, her tone polite.
Elara looked at Stella’s pale face.
She said sharply, “Ms. Taylor, Ms. Finley doesn’t even notice you. So quit the dramas.
“Your history and whatever feelings you had with Mr. Campbell have nothing to do with Ms. Finley.
“Stop wasting your time and energy trying to pull stunts in front of Ms. Finley.”
Stella listened to Elara’s accusations, her brows knitting together.
Stella thought, ‘Ever since Elnora married Albert, it feels like no matter where I go, I’m always the one getting lectured.
‘Now even Elnora’s assistant has the nerve to come up and throw shade at me.

‘Maybe I’m too easygoing.
‘Is that why everyone thinks they can walk all over me?’
Stella said, “Elara, you say my issues with Albert have nothing to do with Ms. Finley, but she’s the one who’s always getting in the way between us.
“Ms. Finley promised she’d let me have Albert back, but then she went and slept with him. She’s a total fraud.”
Elara scoffed at Stella’s words.
Her voice dripping with sarcasm as she fired back, “Do you seriously think Mr. Campbell is your property? You say ‘give him back’ like he’s some lost item.
“Even without Ms. Finley in the picture, it’s not like your relationship with Mr. Campbell was all sunshine and
roses.
“Besides, Ms. Finley isn’t keeping Mr. Campbell chained to her side. If you want him back so badly, go and talk to him directly. Causing drama in front of Ms. Finley, what’s that supposed to accomplish?
“They’re husband and wife. Of course, they’re close. Ms. Taylor, maybe you should mind your own business for once?”
Stella looked pretty miserable after Elara’s comeback.
But Elara wasn’t about to let up.
She said, “Ms. Taylor, let’s be real. If you were actually good enough, you wouldn’t have to shamelessly beg Ms. Finley to give Mr. Campbell back.
“If you had any talent, you would have been Mr. Campbell’s wife long ago, after being with him for so many
years.
“Ms. Finley might be willing to let him go, but do you even have what it takes to keep him?
“Honestly? I don’t think so.”
With that, Elara shot Stella a mocking look and headed back inside Campbell Group.
Stella stood frozen, her face pale as a sheet, unable to say a single word.
She bit down hard on her lip, her eyes red and brimming with frustration and fury.
Every word Elara said hit her right in the gut.
She couldn’t hold onto Albert.
Stella knew all too well. Albert’s attitude toward her had shifted ages ago.
Stella stood there for a long time, lost in her thoughts, before finally turning away and leaving.
She couldn’t even remember how she made it back to the hospital.
She never called Albert to mention anything about Wendelin, either.
Meanwhile, when Wendelin was first brought into the station, she was still hoping someone would come to her rescue.
But as night crept in and no savior appeared, Wendelin’s hope faded away, replaced by crushing despair. News about Elnora getting splashed with coffee quickly made its way to Ludwig, Albert’s assistant.
Albert was out at a business dinner with Wilbur at that moment.
He’d left his phone with Ludwig.
As soon as Ludwig heard what had happened, he hurried straight to the private room.
Just as Ludwig was about to push the door open, it swung open from the inside.
When Wilbur saw Ludwig about to enter, he said in a deep voice, “I’ve heard about what happened with Elnora.
It’s some catfight between women. Nothing worth losing sleep over.
“You can see who’s at this dinner tonight. These people can make or break Campbell Group’s southern

projects with just a signature. Watch what you say.”
Ludwig pressed his lips together, hesitating at the doorway. He stopped, deciding not to enter the private room after hearing Wilbur’s warning.
Wilbur shot Ludwig a glance, then closed the door behind him.
Ludwig stared at the closed door and let out a heavy sigh. After a moment of hesitation, he decided to call Elnora to check in on her.
Elnora had just gotten back to Southview Residence and finished freshening up.
She stepped out of the bathroom and saw an incoming call from Ludwig.
Elnora picked up the phone and answered.
“Hello, Ludwig,” she greeted calmly.
Ludwig heard Elnora’s calm voice and immediately said, “Ms. Finley, I heard there was an incident involving you, so I wanted to check in and see how you’re doing. Are you alright?”
Elnora’s voice was as steady as ever, not a hint of emotion, as she hadn’t been splashed with coffee that
afternoon.
“I’m fine. Did Mr. Campbell put you up to this call?” she said.
“Yes,” Ludwig answered, a bit embarrassed.
Elnora’s tone stayed flat. “Liar.”
Ludwig said nothing.
Even though Elnora said “Liar” without a hint of anger, Ludwig couldn’t help but feel a heavy pressure settle over him.
He quickly stammered out an explanation, trying to cover his embarrassment.
“Mr. Campbell is still tied up. The dinner tonight is full of bigwigs. He hasn’t heard about what happened to you yet.”
Elnora let out a soft, noncommittal “Mm,” barely acknowledging Ludwig.
“Go and take care of your work,” she said, her tone cool and distant.
Without waiting for a reply, Elnora ended the call.
Ludwig stared at his phone, lost in thought after the call ended, his eyes full of confusion.
‘Did I do the right thing, reaching out to Elnora on Albert’s behalf?’ Ludwig wondered, suddenly feeling
uncertain.
