Chapter 652 A Half-Month Business Trip

Chapter 652 A Half-Month Business Trip

Elara was incredibly efficient. She drafted the entire travel itinerary in just half a day.

That afternoon, after handing the plan to Elnora, Elara asked, “Ms. Finley, are we heading out today or

tomorrow?

“If we’re leaving today, I’ll go ahead and book the flights and tonight’s hotel.”

Elnora glanced at the itinerary, her voice cool as she said, “We’re leaving tonight.

“After work, head home to pack, and we’ll meet up at the airport.”

Elara nodded and left Elnora’s office.

As the door closed behind her, Elnora’s gaze drifted for a moment to the spot where Albert had been sitting yesterday.

But Elnora quickly looked away, her eyes remaining unreadable.

She pulled out her phone and called Belinda.

“Belinda, I’m going on a business trip. Could you pack my suitcase and have the chauffeur bring it to Campbell Group?”

Belinda didn’t ask any questions, just agreed right away, “Sure thing, Ms. Finley.”

Elnora hung up after getting Belinda’s confirmation.

But a few minutes later, Elnora called Belinda back.

“Please pack my things and leave them in the living room. I’ll come home after work,” Elnora said.

“Got it,” Belinda replied.

After work, Elnora headed back to Southview Residence.

Belinda had packed her suitcase and left it in the living room, as Elnora had asked.

As soon as Elnora walked in, Belinda greeted her and went over everything she’d packed for the trip.

Elnora listened quietly.

When Belinda finished, she asked, “Ms. Finley, is there anything else you need me to pack?”

Elnora shook her head. “No, that’s all.”

As she spoke, she glanced at her watch.

Just then, Elara sent her the flight schedule.

After checking the message, Elnora put her phone down and said to Belinda, “I’ll have dinner before heading to the airport.”

Belinda immediately replied, “I’ll get started right away.”

Elnora walked over to the sofa in the living room, sat down, and casually flipped through a magazine she grabbed from the table.

Now and then, she glanced out the window, then let her gaze fall back to the magazine.

Belinda finished preparing dinner, saw Elnora sitting on the sofa, and gently called out, “Ms. Finley, dinner’s ready.”

Elnora nodded, stood up, and walked to the dining table.

She sat down and enjoyed her meal unhurriedly.

After Elara texted her that it was time to head out, Elnora finally put down her fork and stood up.

Belinda saw Elnora off at Southview Residence.

Only after Elnora got into the car did Belinda turn and head back inside.

After Belinda stepped inside, she received a call from Albert.

Belinda answered, “Mr. Campbell.”

Albert’s voice was cool as he asked, “Has Ms. Finley come home yet?”

Belinda answered, “She has, but…”

Before Belinda could finish, Albert cut her off, “I’m not coming home for dinner tonight. Let Ms. Finley know she doesn’t need to wait up for me.”

Belinda was a bit surprised, but quickly replied, “Ms. Finley has had dinner.”

Albert was silent for a few seconds before hanging up.

Belinda thought, ‘Man, he really is stone-cold. Does he seriously think Ms. Finley would wait for him?’

After hanging up, Albert opened their chat window with Elnora.

He thought about explaining why he wasn’t coming home for dinner tonight.

But after typing a few words, he paused.

‘She’s had dinner alone. She probably doesn’t care why I’m not coming home tonight, Albert thought.

Albert rubbed his temples and put his phone away.

Soon, his dinner guest arrived at the private dining room.

Albert quickly regained his composure, stood up, and greeted the guest with a smile.

“Mr. Engoron,” Albert said.

Mr. Engoron was currently the Taylor Family’s major client.

The Taylor Family had orchestrated a car accident to protect Nelson, hurting Elnora in the process.

So Albert was planning to take down what mattered most to the Taylor Family, dealing another blow to their already unstable situation.

Once the dinner meeting wrapped up, Albert walked Mr. Engoron out and headed straight back to Southview Residence.

By the time Albert got home, it was already late at night.

He made his way upstairs and paused outside Elnora’s room.

He rested his hand on the doorknob, hesitated for a few seconds, then pulled it back. He didn’t turn the doorknob to Elnora’s room.

Albert turned away and headed to his own room.

The next morning, Albert got up early.

Coming out of his own room, Albert paused as he passed by Elnora’s door.

He was about to knock, but remembering how busy she’d been at Campbell Group lately, he figured she needed to recharge to handle everything on her plate.

So Albert decided not to disturb her and went downstairs to wait for her.

When Belinda saw Albert come downstairs, she headed to the kitchen and brought out the breakfast she had ready.

“Mr. Campbell, breakfast is ready,” Belinda said as she placed the dishes on the table.

Albert frowned slightly at her words.

Belinda used to wait until Elnora came downstairs before serving breakfast.

But today, with only him downstairs, Belinda had served breakfast. He couldn’t help but find it strange.

“Ms. Finley hasn’t come down yet. I’ll wait and have breakfast with her,” Albert said.

And with that, Albert picked up a magazine from the table and started flipping through it.

Belinda hesitated for a second, realizing Albert hadn’t heard the news. She said quietly, “Ms. Finley’s on a business trip. She won’t be having breakfast at home for the time being.”

It was not just breakfast. She wasn’t home for dinner either, and actually, she won’t be back at all for a while. Albert snapped his magazine shut and turned sharply to Belinda, his tone suddenly harsh. “When did she leave for her business trip?”

‘I got up early today; Albert thought, ‘but I didn’t hear a single sound coming from her room.’

Belinda replied truthfully, “Last night. Ms. Finley headed out as soon as she finished dinner.”

Albert took a deep breath, his face darkening.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he said.

Belinda was taken aback. She’d meant to tell Albert about Elnora’s business trip, but he’d interrupted her before she could get the words out.

Honestly, she figured he already knew and was refusing to come home for dinner because he and Elnora were having one of their silent standoffs.

Albert saw that Belinda looked like she wanted to say something, but was holding back. His expression grew colder as he pressed her, “Did Ms. Finley tell you where she’s going for her business trip?

“And how long is she going to be away?”

Belinda shook her head. “Ms. Finley didn’t say anything.”

Belinda didn’t ask either.

Albert took a moment to compose himself, then pulled out his phone and called Ludwig. “Find out where Ms. Finley went for her business trip.”

With Elnora gone, Albert had zero appetite for breakfast. He walked out, phone pressed to his ear, still talking to Ludwig as he left.

Belinda watched Albert walk out, let out a quiet sigh, and silently cleared away the untouched breakfast.

Not long after Albert left Southview Residence, Ludwig got back to him with an update.

He said, “Ms. Finley went to the Campbell Group’s branch in Frency for an inspection.

“Elara said this trip will last about half a month.”

Albert’s knuckles whitened on the steering wheel when he heard the words.

Ludwig noticed Albert’s silence and asked carefully, “Mr. Campbell, would you like me to book a flight to Frency for you right now?”
